Holland Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Exploiting Two 3-Year-Old Girls

HOLLAND, MI – A Holland man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to the sexual exploitation of two young children, federal prosecutors confirmed this week, according to CBS Detroit .

Exploitation of Two Young Victims

Investigators say 25-year-old Darian Howard took sexually explicit photos of two 3-year-old girls and filmed himself sexually assaulting one of them. The case first came to light in November 2024, when a woman reported to police that Howard had taken explicit photos of her 3-year-old daughter.

Authorities discovered additional evidence on Howard’s devices that linked him to both victims.

Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Howard pleaded guilty in May 2025 to three counts of sexual exploitation of a child. On sentencing this week, prosecutors emphasized the seriousness of the crimes and the long-lasting trauma inflicted on victims of child abuse.

U.S. Attorney Timothy VerHey issued a statement:

“My office takes very seriously its obligation to protect vulnerable victims, and children this young are among the most vulnerable. Child exploitation is one of the most troubling crimes we prosecute and we work diligently to secure justice and appropriate sentences for predators.”

Multi-Agency Investigation

The case was investigated by the Holland Department of Public Safety, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI. It falls under Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in 2006 to protect children from sexual exploitation and online abuse.

Community Response and Awareness

The sentencing underscores the importance of vigilance in protecting children. Local officials reminded residents to report suspicious behavior immediately and highlighted the resources available for families through Project Safe Childhood and other support networks.
