Fire North of Morganton
The fire broke out near Antioch Road, just north of Morganton, around 75 miles northwest of Charlotte. Officials have not released the specific location or details about the type of structure involved.

Animals Survive the Blaze
Amid the tragedy, several dogs were rescued from the scene and are now in the care of Burke County Animal Services.

The Burke County Fire Marshal, Sheriff’s Office, and Department of Emergency Services are leading the investigation. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has also been called in to assist.
