Asheville Police Investigate Shooting Outside Tiger Mountain Bar

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Police are investigating a late-night shooting in downtown Asheville that left one man hospitalized after an altercation turned violent outside a popular bar.

Fight Escalates to Gunfire

The incident happened just after midnight Saturday at the Tiger Mountain Bar on North Lexington Avenue. Officers patrolling nearby heard gunshots and quickly responded to the scene near Hiawassee Street.

When police arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers applied a tourniquet and administered aid before paramedics transported the victim to Mission Hospital.

Suspect Fled Scene

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a fight inside the bar that spilled into a nearby parking lot. During the second altercation, a male suspect reportedly retrieved a large-caliber handgun from a vehicle and fired at another man before fleeing on foot.

Police recovered evidence and interviewed witnesses. They have identified a person of interest but have not made an arrest. Authorities emphasized that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
