Man Fatally Shot Inside Northwest Charlotte Wingstop; Police Investigating
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was fatally shot inside a Wingstop restaurant in northwest Charlotte Sunday evening, prompting a homicide investigation by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD).
Deadly Shooting Inside Beatties Ford Road Wingstop
Officers were called to the 5000 block of Beatties Ford Road around 7:07 p.m. after reports of an assault with a deadly weapon inside the restaurant, according to Queen City News.
Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics from MEDIC attempted lifesaving efforts, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
CMPD officials confirmed that the shooting happened inside the business and that the victim was not an employee of the Wingstop.
Investigation and Police Statement
Major Anderson with CMPD’s North Division told reporters that the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident, though the motive remains under investigation.
Police have not said whether a suspect has been identified or taken into custody.
Investigators were seen combing through the restaurant late Sunday night, collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage as nearby businesses closed for the evening.
