Scattered Rain and Thunderstorms Alert

Scattered Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Monday in Southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Another round of rain is expected to start the week across Southeast Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry, bringing scattered showers, gusty winds, and the potential for minor coastal flooding.

Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Expected

Forecasters say showers and isolated thunderstorms will begin early Monday morning, continuing into the afternoon as coverage expands inland. Most of the rain will be concentrated along coastal counties, before tapering off later in the evening as drier air moves in.

Meteorologist Austin Green noted that the system will behave similarly to Sunday’s pattern, producing periods of rain and scattered thunderstorms during peak heating hours.

Coastal Conditions Remain Rough

Strong easterly winds are expected to persist throughout Monday, creating rough surf and dangerous rip currents along area beaches. A high rip current risk is in effect through Monday evening, and minor coastal flooding is possible during high tide cycles.

Officials urge swimmers and boaters to remain cautious, especially near Tybee Island, Hilton Head, and nearby barrier beaches, where wave activity could be strong.

Clearing by Monday Night

Conditions are forecast to improve gradually Monday night, with partly cloudy skies returning by Tuesday morning. The rest of the week is expected to bring a mix of sunshine and mild temperatures across the region.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts for any flooding advisories or marine warnings that may develop as the system passes through.
