This rotation signature was clearly identifiable on Digital Velocity radar, with the classic couplet of strong inbound and outbound velocities indicating a tightening circulation that warranted immediate concern for communities in its path.

Residents in Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, and surrounding northwest suburban communities were urged to take shelter immediately as the circulation moved northeast through their area during the late evening hours.

Second Rotation Near Aurora Targeting Downers Grove

The second and equally concerning rotation was detected near Aurora, tracking northeast toward Downers Grove and Woodridge at the time of the update. This southern circulation placed additional Chicago suburbs including Carol Stream, Wheaton, Elmhurst, Bensenville, and Westchester in a heightened state of alert as the storm system pushed through DuPage County Friday night.

The simultaneous presence of two separate rotation areas within the same storm system significantly elevated the overall tornado threat across the broader Chicago suburban region, as either or both circulations carried the potential to produce a brief tornado with little additional warning time.
