Virginia Beach Animal Rescue Takes in Dozens of Cats from Closing North Carolina Shelter
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Hope For Life Rescue is stepping up after a North Carolina SPCA announced its closure, taking in dozens of cats and kittens in what the organization calls one of the largest intakes in its history.
Dozens of Cats Brought to Virginia Beach
On Saturday, rescue staff transported the animals to Virginia Beach, where they will undergo spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, preventive care, and treatment for illnesses. The sudden intake has put an immediate strain on the nonprofit’s budget, prompting an urgent call for donations.
Foster Homes and Supplies Needed
The rescue says it will need short-term foster homes for adult cats for two to four weeks, giving them time to recover and adjust before adoption. Supplies such as food and litter are also in high demand, with the group directing supporters to an Amazon Wish List to help cover the needs of the influx.
“This is a huge moment for our rescue, and we’re grateful for our community’s support,” Hope For Life Rescue shared in a statement. “Together, we can give these cats and kittens the new beginning they deserve.”
Community Rallies Around the Rescue
Local supporters have already begun donating and volunteering, highlighting the strong bond between the rescue and its community. With dozens of cats now in their care, staff and volunteers are working to ensure each one receives medical treatment and eventually finds a permanent home.
As North Carolina shelters struggle with closures and limited resources, the efforts of Hope For Life Rescue stand as a lifeline for vulnerable animals. Have you ever fostered or adopted a rescue animal? Share your experience in the comments and join the discussion at SaludaStandard-Sentinel.com.
