Florida Mom Arrested for Driving 103 MPH With Infant and Kids in Car

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 34-year-old Florida mother was arrested after deputies say she drove a Dodge Charger at 103 mph in a 45 mph zone, with three children in the vehicle, including an 8-month-old infant who was not properly strapped in. The arrest has drawn widespread outrage across Orange County .

High-Speed Chase in Orange County

The incident began on August 29 at 11:20 p.m., when an Orange County deputy clocked the Charger speeding down Alafaya Trail at more than twice the posted limit. The deputy gave chase, eventually stopping the vehicle in an apartment complex on Cricket Club Circle, according to incident reports from Orange County deputies.

The driver, identified as Asia Clark-Campbell, was taken into custody without further pursuit. Authorities later described her behavior as showing reckless disregard for human life.

Children Found in Dangerous Conditions

Inside the car, deputies discovered a 7-year-old riding in the front seat, a 12-year-old, and an 8-month-old in the back seat. The infant was seated in a car seat, but deputies noted that the safety straps were completely undone, leaving the child at severe risk during the high-speed chase.

“There’s absolutely no reason. 103 mph down Alafaya with an 8-month-old in a car seat with no straps peeling out at the light,” the deputy was heard saying in the arrest footage.

Charges Against the Driver

Clark-Campbell now faces charges of child neglect, reckless driving, and multiple traffic citations, including expired registration, based on court documents filed in Orange County. Deputies also confirmed that she remains on felony probation for a 2023 firearm theft case, raising questions about why she was still permitted to drive.

The children were released into the custody of their father following the arrest.

Community Outrage

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office later shared bodycam footage of the arrest on its official Facebook page, which quickly spread across Reddit and local forums.

One user wrote: “So not only do they endanger everyone on the street, they put their own child at big risk. Now that is a piece of shit.”

Another comment, which received hundreds of likes, added: “This is one of the things police are actually good for. I’m glad this officer arrested this lady because she clearly has no regard for her life, the life of her kids, or the life of others. I hope she enjoys her cell.

Larger Concerns

Safety advocates warn that cases like this highlight Florida’s growing problem with reckless drivers endangering children. Officers in Orange County say they plan to increase patrols on Alafaya Trail, which has seen multiple crashes linked to excessive speed.

National safety data also supports these concerns. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, proper use of car seats can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers, showing just how dangerous Clark-Campbell’s negligence was.
