1 Killed, 5 Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on SC 9 in Spartanburg County
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA – One person is dead and five others — including a child — were injured after a three-vehicle crash in Spartanburg County on Friday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Crash Occurred During Morning Traffic on Brannon Circle
Authorities say the incident happened around 7:45 a.m. when a 2003 Chevrolet SUV stopped eastbound on Brannon Circle attempted to turn north onto SC Highway 9. During the maneuver, it was struck by a 2006 Jeep SUV that was traveling south on SC 9.
The impact caused the Chevrolet to collide with a 2008 Honda Coupe, creating a chain-reaction crash that left multiple people injured.
Six People Taken to Hospital, One Confirmed Dead
The three occupants of the Chevrolet, the driver of the Jeep, and two passengers in the Honda were all transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to troopers. Among the injured was a child who had been riding in the Honda.
Tragically, a passenger in the Chevrolet was later pronounced dead. As of Saturday afternoon, the coroner has not yet released the identity of the deceased.
Investigation Still Active, More Details Expected
Troopers with SCHP are continuing to investigate the crash and have not yet announced whether charges will be filed. The cause of the crash remains under review, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
