HANOVER, Va. — Authorities are investigating an interstate police pursuit that began in Hanover County and ended in a crash in Henrico Sunday evening, leading to the detention of four people — including three juveniles.
Pursuit Begins After Report of Shots Fired
According to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Interstate 295 just before 5 p.m. following reports of a possible shooting. When officers located the suspect’s vehicle, the driver refused to stop, sparking a multi-county pursuit.
Investigators say Virginia State Police are now examining whether shots were fired before or during the chase. So far, officials have found no evidence that anyone was injured.
Vehicle Crashes in Henrico, Suspects Detained
The chase continued down Mechanicsville Turnpike before the suspect vehicle crashed on Yeadon Road in Henrico County. Authorities say there were four occupants in the car.
An 18-year-old male fled the scene on foot but was later detained, while the three remaining passengers — all juveniles — were taken into custody at the crash site.

The Virginia State Police and Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the incident, including whether gunfire was exchanged prior to the pursuit.
