Florence County Deputies Seek Vehicle Linked to Missing Dog Near Lake City
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. — The Florence County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a vehicle that may be connected to the disappearance of a small mixed-breed dog named Tibby, who vanished from her home near Lake City on Sunday afternoon.
Dog Missing Since October 5
Investigators said Tibby, a small white mixed-breed dog, went missing around 3:00 p.m. on October 5 after wandering away from her residence on McCutcheon Road. Deputies now believe that a blue, late-model four-door Nissan seen in the area around that time could be linked to the incident.
Officials released surveillance photos of both the car and Tibby, asking anyone who recognizes them to come forward.
Deputies Seek Driver for Information
The Sheriff’s Office says the driver or owner of the blue Nissan could have information critical to the case. “We’re following all leads to bring Tibby home safely,” officials said in a statement, urging anyone with knowledge of the vehicle or the dog’s location to reach out.
Deputies emphasized that this remains an active investigation, and no suspects have been named at this time.
How to Share Tips
Anyone with information can contact Florence County Sheriff’s Office Investigators at (843) 665-2121 ext. 80166 or submit tips through the department’s mobile app.
Anonymous tips may also be provided to Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at 1-888-CRIME-SC, where callers could be eligible for rewards up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or recovery of the missing dog.
Community Concern Grows
Neighbors in the Lake City area have shared posts across social media urging others to keep an eye out for Tibby, who is described as friendly and small with white fur. The incident has sparked concern among local pet owners, many of whom have reported increased sightings of unfamiliar vehicles in rural parts of the county.
Deputies continue to investigate as residents rally to help locate Tibby and reunite her with her family.
