Two Arrested in Greenwood Fentanyl Bust; Pills Found Inside Sonic Storage Room
GREENWOOD, SOUTH CAROLINA — A fast-food restaurant in Greenwood was shut down after investigators discovered fentanyl pills stored inside, leading to the arrests of two suspects in a months-long narcotics investigation.
Suspects Arrested
According to the Eighth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, officers arrested Quintavius Crawford and Kayla Beggs following coordinated searches at multiple locations in Greenwood.
Crawford was charged with trafficking fentanyl after investigators recovered 250 grams of blue fentanyl pills and two firearms during a search at a home in the 100 block of Lisa Drive.
Beggs, identified as a manager at a local Sonic restaurant, was arrested after authorities discovered fentanyl pills stored in the restaurant’s storage room. She now faces charges of distributing fentanyl.
Restaurant Shut Down
The Sonic restaurant was immediately shut down, and state health inspectors were called to the site. Officials said the discovery of narcotics in a commercial food establishment posed a serious risk, though there was no evidence the pills had been mixed with food products.
The restaurant will remain closed until cleared by inspectors.
Community Concerns
The arrests underscore the growing presence of fentanyl in South Carolina communities, where law enforcement has reported a surge in trafficking cases. Officials continue to warn the public about the dangers of fentanyl, which is 50 times more potent than heroin and remains the leading driver of overdose deaths nationwide.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests may be possible.
