Elizabeth City Man Faces Felony Charges After Dollar General, CVS Break-Ins
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A 40-year-old Elizabeth City man has been arrested and charged in connection with a string of breaking and entering incidents that targeted local businesses earlier this month.
Police identified the suspect as Quinton David Morris, of Bank Street, who is being held at the Albemarle District Jail without bond.
Three Incidents in Two Weeks
The first break-in happened on September 2, just before 3 a.m., at the Dollar General on Oak Stump Road. Police responded to an alarm and later confirmed items had been stolen.
A second incident was reported on September 11 at the CVS on West Ehringhaus Street, where officers found the front door had been pried open.
Just days later, on September 14, police were called to the same CVS around 4:30 a.m., this time discovering the front door shattered and more items missing.
Arrest and Charges
Following an investigation, officers arrested Morris and charged him with three counts of felony breaking and entering and three counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering.
He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday.
Elizabeth City police said the arrests highlight the importance of alarm systems in helping deter and solve property crimes.
