North Carolina Teen Arrested After Threats of Mass Violence Toward University of Louisville
ADVANCE, N.C. — An 18-year-old from North Carolina has been arrested after authorities say he made threats of mass violence toward the University of Louisville, prompting a multi-state investigation.
Threats Made by Phone
On Sept. 12, between 1 and 2 p.m., the University of Louisville Police Department (ULPD) received a threatening phone call referencing Charlie Kirk posters placed on campus. Investigators traced the call back to North Carolina.
Arrest in Davie County
By 4:43 p.m. that day, the Davie County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to assist. Deputies tracked the threat to a residence on Bingham & Parks Road in Advance, N.C., where they identified Michael Tedder as the caller.
He was arrested and charged with one count of communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property. Tedder was booked into the Davie County Jail without bond.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have not confirmed whether Tedder had developed any detailed plans to carry out an attack. In a Sept. 19 statement, U of L Communications Specialist Amanda Carroll thanked the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, noting the threat was directly connected to the controversial posters placed on campus.
The investigation remains ongoing.
