Alligator Near Georgia Kids’ Complex Caught with Chicken Bait and Relocated

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — A hungry alligator that made its way near a children’s athletic complex in Bibb County has been safely captured and relocated by animal enforcement officers.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement team responded to reports of the reptile near a pond on Raley Road, close to facilities regularly used by kids.

Caught with Chicken Bait

According to the sheriff’s office, Animal Enforcement Officers Rebecca Galeazzo and Leann Strickland used a trap baited with a whole chicken to lure and capture the 4-foot-long alligator.

Officials confirmed the animal was later relocated to a remote area far away from homes, businesses, and public spaces.

Community Safety Priority

The incident comes as a reminder of the risks posed by wildlife in residential and recreational areas, especially locations frequented by children. Authorities emphasized that relocating the alligator was necessary to ensure both public safety and the animal’s well-being.

No injuries were reported, and the children’s complex has since resumed normal activities.
