Georgia Man Arrested in Auburn on Identity Theft and Property Theft Charges
AUBURN, Ala. — A Georgia man has been taken into custody following an Auburn Police Department investigation that tied him to both identity theft and property theft.
Authorities announced Friday that 30-year-old Demtreus Vontrail Davis of Conley, Georgia, was arrested on felony warrants of identity theft and first-degree theft of property.
Investigation Began with Forged Check
The case traces back to December 5, 2024, when a victim reported a forged check that had been stolen from the mail in Auburn. Police said the check was altered and deposited into a bank account linked to an unidentified suspect.
After months of investigation, Auburn police identified Davis as the suspect and obtained arrest warrants.
Arrest and Extradition
Davis was later located by Georgia State Patrol troopers and arrested on the outstanding warrants. He was detained at the Henry County Jail in Georgia before being extradited back to Alabama on Wednesday.
Upon arrival, he was booked into the Lee County Jail, where he is being held on a $10,000 bond.
