Avelo Airlines Adds Budget-Friendly Flights from Florida to North Carolina and Beyond Starting at $57

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA — Travelers looking for affordable ways to reach North Carolina now have new options thanks to Avelo Airlines, which just announced expanded routes connecting Florida with key destinations in the Southeast and Northeast.

The Houston-based ultra-low-cost carrier is launching nonstop service from Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) to two North Carolina cities—Wilmington (ILM) and Charlotte’s Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA)—with one-way fares starting at $57.

New Florida–North Carolina Routes Begin This Fall

The flights are part of Avelo’s broader plan to increase East Coast connectivity. The two new North Carolina routes will begin operating later this year:

  • Palm Beach to Wilmington (ILM)
    • Service begins: November 20, 2025
    • Flights operate: Thursdays and Sundays
  • Palm Beach to Charlotte/Concord (USA)
    • Service begins: October 23, 2025
    • Flights operate: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays

Palm Beach airport officials welcomed the announcement. Laura Beebe, Director of Airports at PBI, said the new routes “offer our travelers even more affordable and convenient options to visit two growing regions.”

Avelo Also Adds Key West to Connecticut Flights

In addition to the North Carolina routes, Avelo will begin flights from Key West International Airport (EYW) to Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) on November 19, offering twice-weekly service on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

This brings Avelo’s total flight offerings from PBI to four, including existing service to:

  • Wilmington International Airport (ILM)
  • Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA)
  • Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN)
  • Wilmington Airport, Delaware Valley (ILG)

Where Avelo Operates in Florida

Avelo now flies to and from 12 Florida airports, including:

  • Daytona Beach (DAB)
  • Fort Lauderdale/Miami (FLL)
  • Fort Myers (RSW)
  • Jacksonville (JAX)
  • Miami (MIA)
  • Orlando (MCO & LAL)
  • Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ)
  • Tampa (TPA)
  • West Palm Beach (PBI)
  • Key West (EYW)
  • Destin/Fort Walton Beach (VPS)

The airline markets itself as budget-friendly and operates a fleet of 22 Boeing 737 aircraft, offering both standard and extra legroom seating.

Not Without Controversy

Despite its popularity for low fares, Avelo has faced criticism for its cooperation with ICE deportation flights, prompting calls for boycotts earlier this year. Avelo spokesperson Courtney Goff responded that as a U.S. flag carrier, “our practice is to say yes” when the government requests assistance.
