Tragic Loss: Veteran Driver Robbie Brewer Dies in North Carolina Track Crash

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The stock-car racing community is mourning the sudden loss of veteran driver Robbie Brewer, who died after a crash during a Sportsman Division race at Bowman Gray Stadium over the weekend.

Brewer, 53, was competing in a 20-lap race when his car suffered a medical emergency-related incident and collided head-on with a wall. Despite immediate medical attention on the track and a rapid transport to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Brewer’s Career and Legacy

Brewer’s career spanned decades, with nearly 260 starts in the Sportsman Division and a 2011 division championship. Known for his consistency and determination, Brewer became a respected mentor to younger drivers, offering guidance and encouragement both on and off the track.

Fellow racer Brad Lewis described Brewer as a competitor who “gave his all to the sport” and “made an impact on every driver he met.”
