Method Company Opens Boutique Hotel on Charleston’s King Street
CHARLESTON, SC — A new boutique hotel has officially opened its doors on King Street in downtown Charleston, blending the city’s historic charm with modern flair. The Nickel Hotel, developed by Philadelphia-based Method Company, marks the latest upscale addition to the vibrant Cannonborough neighborhood.
With 50 rooms, thoughtfully designed interiors, and a rooftop lounge on the way, The Nickel is designed to offer guests both luxury and local character.
Partnership and Design Roots
The hotel was created through a collaboration between Method Co., New York architecture firm Morris Adjmi Architects, and real estate developer Capital Square. It follows the success of The Pinch — another Charleston property by Method.
Located on the 500 block of King Street, The Nickel pays homage to Charleston’s traditional design with contemporary touches. Interior details include European marble mosaics, checkerboard flooring, hand-painted porcelain plaster, and a French antique tapestry in the lobby.
The project is a product of both Morris Adjmi’s architectural vision and Method Co.’s own Method Studios, which handled in-house design.
Features for Modern Travelers
The rooms are meant to evoke the comforts of home, offering full-size kitchens, built-in appliances, honed marble countertops, and washers and dryers. Each suite includes a dining space and lounge area, ideal for extended stays or design-conscious guests.
Guests also have access to a range of communal spaces:
-
Interior courtyard
-
Library
-
Private event space and listening room
-
Bar Daniel, a guest-only cocktail lounge
-
And soon, Rosemary Rose, a public rooftop lounge with panoramic views of Charleston
According to Hotel Management, Bar Daniel is named after Daniel Cannon, the 18th-century carpenter for whom the Cannonborough neighborhood is named.
