March 9 Crash in Saluda County Kills Local Woman in Head-On Collision

SALUDA COUNTY, SC — A tragic collision on Thursday afternoon, March 9, 2023, claimed the life of a 65-year-old Saluda woman when her car crossed the center line and struck a tractor-trailer head-on.

The crash occurred along Highway 39 near Speigner Road and involved a 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer and a 2019 Honda sedan, according to the Saluda County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Kimberly F. Bundrick of Saluda, was pronounced dead at the scene. Coroner Keith Turner confirmed her identity and noted that she appeared to have crossed over the center line into the path of the oncoming truck.

“The passenger car appeared to have traveled over the center line hitting the tractor-trailer head on,” Turner said in a statement.

The truck driver was not injured in the crash.

Emergency personnel from the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and Fire Service assisted at the scene. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash, along with the Coroner’s Office.

The Coroner’s Office also extended condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Bundrick, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones during this difficult time.”
