Two Arrested in Massive Upstate South Carolina Drug Distribution Raid

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Deputies say two people have been arrested after a massive drug distribution raid in Spartanburg County uncovered large quantities of narcotics, firearms, and other evidence of trafficking.

Investigation and Raid

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) began investigating Preston Young in May for suspected large-scale drug distribution. Because the investigation stretched into Greer, Georgia, and North Carolina, SCSO partnered with the DEA, Greer City Police, and Spartanburg City Police.

On September 9, authorities searched a residence in the 2100 block of Fort Prince Boulevard in Wellford. Deputies identified it as the home of Branna Moore and the hub of Young’s trafficking operation.

Drugs and Weapons Seized

During the raid, deputies seized:

  • 2,224 grams (4.9 lbs) of methamphetamine
  • 771 grams (1.7 lbs) of fentanyl
  • 106 grams of cocaine
  • 908 grams (2 lbs) of marijuana
  • 152 grams of MDMA
  • Three handguns
  • Two vehicles
  • Assorted jewelry

Charges Filed

  • Preston Young (arrested in Greer on Sept. 9) faces charges including:
    • Trafficking methamphetamine (400+ grams)
    • Trafficking fentanyl (28+ grams)
    • Trafficking cocaine (10–28 grams)
    • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime (x3)
    • Possession of a weapon by a convicted felon
    • Exposing a child to methamphetamine
  • Branna Moore (arrested on Sept. 10) faces charges including:
    • Conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine (400+ grams)
    • Conspiracy to traffic fentanyl (28+ grams)
    • Conspiracy to traffic cocaine (10–28 grams)
    • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime (x3)
    • Exposing a child to methamphetamine

Detention

Both Young and Moore were booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center and are being held without bond.
