Tornado Watch Issued for 22 Arkansas Counties Until Midnight Tuesday With Clinton, Conway, Little Rock and Surrounding Areas Under Active Severe Alert
ARKANSAS — A Tornado Watch has been issued for 22 counties across central and western Arkansas, remaining in effect until midnight Tuesday night. The Arkansas Weather Network confirmed the watches as of 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, with a large swath of the state now under active severe alerts covering areas from the western border stretching toward the central and northern regions of the state.
Full List of Counties Under the Tornado Watch
The following counties are included under the Tornado Watch until midnight: Cleburne, Conway, Faulkner, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Johnson, Lawrence, Logan, Montgomery, Newton, Perry, Pike, Polk, Pope, Scott, Searcy, Sharp, Stone, Van Buren, White, Woodruff, and Yell County. Residents across all of these counties are urged to remain indoors and stay weather aware throughout the evening.
Major Population Centers Falling Within the Watch Zone
Several significant population centers fall directly within the active watch zone, including Clinton, Conway, and communities surrounding the Little Rock metro corridor. Fort Smith and Mena in western Arkansas also sit within heavily impacted areas, with the watch zone extending northward toward Fayetteville and eastward toward Jonesboro across central Arkansas.
Residents Urged to Monitor Alerts and Be Ready to Shelter
A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornado development and residents must remain alert and prepared to act immediately if a Tornado Warning is issued for their specific location. Watches differ from warnings in that a warning signals an imminent or confirmed threat.
All residents within the 22 listed counties should have a shelter plan ready and keep local weather alerts active throughout the remainder of Tuesday night. For continuing coverage of severe weather events across the United States, visit SaludaStandard-Sentinel.com.
