Robbery Report Leads to Arrest of South Carolina Man in New York
MOHAWK, N.Y. — Police say a South Carolina man is in custody after a robbery report last week in the Village of Mohawk led to multiple felony charges.
Confrontation and Threats Reported
According to the Mohawk Police Department, the incident happened on Tuesday, August 19, around 6 p.m. Officers said Christian A. Garramone, of Jacksonville, South Carolina, allegedly started a verbal and physical altercation with a victim, during which he threatened to kill them.
Victim’s Handgun Taken
Investigators reported that the victim, acting in self-defense, drew a legally registered handgun during the confrontation. Garramone then allegedly seized the firearm and fled the scene with it.
Arrest and Charges
Police apprehended Garramone shortly after the incident. He is facing multiple felony charges, including:
- Criminal possession of a weapon
- Robbery
- Criminal possession of stolen property
In addition to the felonies, Garramone is also charged with criminal trespass and petit larceny, both misdemeanors, as well as a harassment violation.
Detention and Bail
Following his arraignment, Garramone was placed in the Herkimer County Correctional Facility. Authorities said his bail was set at $25,000 cash or a $50,000 secured bond.
The case remains under investigation, and no additional details on the victim have been released.
