North Charleston Man Arrested for Trespassing and Deadly Hit-and-Run
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred earlier this month in North Charleston, according to local police.
Crash Occurred Near Piggly Wiggly Drive
The incident happened on August 5 near the intersection of Rivers Avenue and Piggly Wiggly Drive, where a person was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene. Days later, officers with the North Charleston Police Department received a report about a disturbance on Flintwood Court.
The caller stated that the individual causing the disturbance owned the same truck involved in the deadly collision. After responding to the scene and verifying the connection, officers arrested Lewis Pinckney, who was then charged in the case. (WYFF News 4)
Charges Filed and Suspect in Custody
Pinckney now faces two charges:
- Trespassing
- Hit-and-run resulting in death
He was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center following his arrest.
Police have not released additional details about the victim or whether more charges could be filed. The investigation remains ongoing.
