North Carolina Weather Alert: Charlotte Drivers Face Wet I-85 Roads Through Wednesday Morning

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Drivers across Charlotte are being urged to use caution on I-85 and surrounding highways as scattered showers move through the area late Tuesday into early Wednesday.

Evening Showers and Slick Roads

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, rain chances linger overnight, with the greatest impact expected before sunrise Wednesday. Motorists may encounter slick spots, reduced visibility, and sudden downpours on I-85, I-77, and U.S. 74.

Travelers are encouraged to slow down and use headlights while driving through the rain to reduce the risk of accidents.

Clearing Skies and Warmer Days Ahead

By mid-morning Wednesday, drier air will push in from the north, allowing skies to clear. Temperatures are expected to climb to around 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

Conditions will continue to improve throughout the week:

  • Thursday: Sunny, high 85
  • Friday: Sunny, high 88
  • Saturday: Sunny, high 87
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, high 81

The forecast looks favorable for outdoor activities, though officials advise residents to stay hydrated as late-summer heat lingers.

Looking Ahead

No widespread hazards are expected after Wednesday morning, but another round of showers could return early next week.
