NC A&T Police Investigating Shots Fired at Campus Parking Deck

GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina A&T State University police are investigating after shots were fired early Sunday morning near an on-campus parking deck, officials confirmed.

Incident at Obermeyer Parking Deck

University officials said the shots rang out just before 4:30 a.m. at the Obermeyer Parking Deck. Witnesses reported seeing a man in a dark hoodie fire the shots before fleeing toward a black Ford Explorer and a gray sedan. Both vehicles sped off campus via Benbow Road.

Emergency Alert Issued

The university issued an emergency alert shortly after 5 a.m. via social media, warning students of the incident and urging them to avoid the area.

Campus police, along with the Greensboro Police Department, responded immediately. Officials confirmed there were no injuries and that there is no continuing threat to the campus community.

Investigation Ongoing

At this time, authorities have not released details on what may have led to the gunfire. The investigation remains active, and officials are asking anyone with information to contact the NCAT Police Department at 336-334-7675 or Greensboro police by dialing 911.

The incident has raised concerns about campus safety as students return for the fall semester.
