Man Declared Dead for Minutes Says He Met Jesus and Was Sent Back with a Mission
MELBOURNE, Fla. — A Florida man who was declared clinically dead for several minutes says he experienced a near-death encounter in which he met Jesus, found peace, and was sent back to Earth with a mission to share love and light.
Collapse During Air Force Training
Chase Skylar DeMayo, now 38, was 19 when he collapsed while training for a position in the U.S. Air Force. He was rushed to the hospital, where routine tests initially appeared normal. But after an air embolism entered his IV drip, he went into cardiac arrest and flatlined.
“The last thing I heard was alarms going off. A calming voice told me it would be OK. I watched my body from above as I spun upward, surrounded by lights, angels, laughter, and music like bells,” DeMayo recalled.
A Vision of Peace
He described arriving in a garden of extraordinary color and beauty, where he encountered Jesus—not in traditional imagery, but with curly brown hair, green eyes, and a warm smile.
“He was playing with a child who was my younger, happier self,” DeMayo said. “He told me to go back and spread love, laughter, light, and joy. He reminded me that no matter my past, I still had light to share.”
Life After Being Sent Back
When DeMayo revived, doctors were astonished to find no lasting damage. He said the experience left him deeply changed: “There was no fear about dying. It was peaceful and beautiful, like cool ice leaving my chest. I didn’t want to leave the garden, but I understood my purpose wasn’t done.”
He later retired from his military career for medical reasons, turning instead toward holistic counseling. He has since completed a doctorate and says he feels called to guide others to discover their life’s purpose.
Spiritual Gifts and New Mission
DeMayo claims the encounter gave him heightened sensitivity to others’ emotions, tingling in his palms when in prayer, and even the ability to heal by touch.
“I live with a reminder each day to chase light, even in dark times,” he said. “I no longer fear death, but instead feel grateful for life. I still communicate with Jesus and angels, and I find peace in the unknown.”
His story has sparked conversations about near-death experiences and faith, with DeMayo choosing to share his testimony publicly after years of silence.
