Loaded Guns, Drugs Seized Outside North Carolina High School Football Game — Two Men Arrested

RAEFORD, N.C. — A high school homecoming football game in Hoke County turned dangerous Friday night when deputies discovered loaded firearms and multiple drugs inside a car parked just outside the stadium, according to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies Detect Marijuana Odor in Parking Lot

According to a report from WXII 12 News, deputies were patrolling the parking lot of Hoke County High School during the school’s homecoming game when they noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from a parked vehicle.

When officers approached, they found two men inside the car. After conducting a search, deputies discovered two loaded firearms — one of them a Glock with an automatic switch and an extended magazine hidden under the driver’s seat.

Multiple Drugs Seized From the Vehicle

A further search by narcotics investigators uncovered marijuana, suspected MDMA (ecstasy), amphetamines, oxycodone, cocaine, and crack cocaine. Authorities say both suspects were taken into custody at the scene and later booked into the Hoke County Detention Center.

Investigators noted that one suspect had a firearm on his person, while the second gun was concealed within reach of the driver. Both were found to be fully loaded.

Sheriff’s Office Calls It a Serious Threat to Public Safety

The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office released photos of the seized weapons and drugs, emphasizing that the arrests likely prevented a dangerous situation from unfolding during the crowded school event.

Officials praised the deputies for their quick response and urged the public to remain alert during large gatherings, particularly at schools and community events.

No injuries were reported, and law enforcement has not released the names of the suspects pending further investigation.

Ongoing Investigation

Both men face multiple charges related to illegal firearm possession, narcotics trafficking, and drug paraphernalia. The investigation remains ongoing, with deputies working to determine whether the suspects had any intent to distribute the drugs on school property.
