‘I Don’t Know Who Needs To Hear This…‘: Las Vegas McDonald’s Worker Issues Viral PSA on Mobile App Orders
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — A McDonald’s worker’s viral TikTok has sparked debate about how the fast-food chain’s mobile ordering system actually works — and why many frustrated customers may be using it wrong.
The Viral Warning
TikTok user @justesmeee_, who works at a McDonald’s in Las Vegas, shared a video earlier this week that has since spread across social media.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I need to tell y’all something,” she begins. “We have absolutely no control over the mobile app and its rules. If you place a mobile order from McDonald’s, that same device you use to place the order needs to be at the store when you pick it up”.
She emphasized that screenshots of orders don’t work because the system relies on GPS tracking to confirm the order at the location.
Customers React
@justesmeee_ And NO we don’t get the order until you ARRIVE😣 #mcdonalds #lasvegas #fastfood #mobileapp #fyp
The comments section quickly filled with pushback. One customer argued, “The receipt has words on it to show what I ordered. So put what I ordered in the bag.”
Another user countered the worker’s claim, saying they regularly order on one phone while their spouse picks up using just a code. Others added that in some stores, employees allow pick-ups as long as someone clicks “I’m already here” on the app.
McDonald’s Policy
According to McDonald’s official policy, the worker is technically correct: the order will not fully process until the GPS on the ordering device confirms arrival at the store. However, McDonald’s does acknowledge that pressing the “I’m here” button can sometimes bypass the GPS requirement.
The viral clip underscores the growing confusion around mobile food apps and how policies may differ from store to store.
