Authorities Searching for Driver After Trooper Chase in Harnett County
LINDEN, N.C. — Authorities are searching for a driver who led North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers on a chase through Harnett County before abandoning a car and running away on foot.
Chase Begins in Linden
Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle on Horseshoe Bend Road around 4 p.m. Sunday, but the driver refused to pull over. The chase continued into the Town of Linden along NC Highway 217 before turning onto Collier’s Chapel Church Road.
The pursuit ended when the driver lost control and hit a ditch.
Driver Escapes on Foot
After briefly regaining control, the vehicle became disabled. Authorities say the driver then jumped out and ran from the scene, leaving a passenger behind in the car.
The passenger was given aid at the scene, but officials have not released further details on their condition.
Search Ongoing
Troopers have not identified the driver and say the investigation remains active. No additional information, including potential charges, has been released at this time.
