Duplin County Man Arrested After Allegedly S*xually Assaulting His 3-Year-Old Daughter

DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. — A 28-year-old North Carolina man is behind bars after being accused of s*xually assaulting his 3-year-old daughter, according to the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Robert Phillip Taylor, of Magnolia, on October 7 following a weeklong investigation that began after a report from the New Hanover County Department of Social Services. Authorities say the agency received a disclosure from a 3-year-old girl alleging that her father had s*xually assaulted her in Duplin County.

Investigation Leads to Arrest in Magnolia

According to investigators, the report prompted detectives to launch an immediate investigation. After gathering evidence, they obtained a search warrant and arrested Taylor at his residence in the Magnolia area without incident.

The case has since been described by law enforcement as one of the most disturbing in recent memory. Taylor is now facing multiple felony charges, including:

  • Felony statutory s*x offense with a child by an adult
  • Felony indecent liberties with a child
  • Felony first-degree s*xual exploitation of a minor

Officials said Taylor is being held at the Duplin County Jail without bond.

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office commended investigators for their swift action in removing what Sheriff Stratton called “a dangerous s*xual predator” from the community. “I’m proud of the hardworking men and women of this office for getting him off the streets and protecting the children of Duplin County,” Stratton said in a statement shared with The North Carolina Beat.

Community Reaction and Ongoing Case

Residents of Magnolia and surrounding communities have expressed shock and anger following Taylor’s arrest. Advocacy groups are once again urging families to stay vigilant and report any suspected child abuse immediately to law enforcement or local social services.

Officials confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges may be filed as forensic evidence and interviews are completed.
