72-Year-Old Man Identified as Victim in Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash in Thomson

THOMSON, Ga. — Authorities have identified the man killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in McDuffie County. The victim has been named as 72-year-old Arthur Alexander of Thomson.

Man Dies After Truck Overturns on East Hill Street

According to McDuffie County Coroner Paul Johnson, the crash happened around 2 p.m. on the 400 block of East Hill Street when Alexander’s 2018 Chevrolet Silverado left the roadway and rolled over. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and Alexander was transported to a nearby emergency room.

Officials said Alexander died from his injuries shortly after arrival at 2:51 p.m. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.

Investigation Underway

The Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation to determine what caused the vehicle to veer off the road. At this time, no details have been released regarding potential contributing factors such as speed or medical issues.

Local officials have expressed condolences to the victim’s family as the community mourns the loss of a longtime resident.
