The man replied, “I am sorry if you feel that way,” a response that she and many viewers found dismissive. Despite her discomfort, Mostamand said passengers nearby supported her after the confrontation.

A Delayed but Brave Response

Mostamand revealed that the incident actually happened a couple of years ago but she chose to post it recently to highlight an issue many women face.

She explained it took her nearly an hour to finally confront the man. “I was so embarrassed about the whole situation, even though I shouldn’t have been,” she wrote. “The people around me on the train were very supportive and comforted me.”

Viral Reaction Online

Her post resonated with thousands of women who said they’ve had similar experiences. “The only way to dissuade gross behavior is to call it out,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “It is never okay for people to behave like this man is.”

Many praised Mostamand for standing up for herself, even when society often labels women “rude” for doing so.

A Call for Awareness

Mostamand used her platform to encourage others not to stay silent if they face harassment. “There’s no reason why women should face harassment like this,” she said.

She urged women to be safe, trust their instincts, and not hesitate to speak out when they feel uncomfortable.
