Manhunt Ends With Two Arrested After Columbia Shooting, Police Say
COLUMBIA, SC — A manhunt for two suspects tied to a recent Columbia shooting has ended, with both individuals now in custody and facing serious charges, according to local authorities.
The incident stems from a June 18 shooting in the 4100 block of Trenholm Road, where a man was shot multiple times. Police say the victim was acquainted with both suspects.
Both Men Now Charged With Attempted Murder
Columbia Police announced the arrest of Keshawn Potter, 21, on Tuesday afternoon. He had been the subject of an active search following the incident. A day prior, Rymyro Simmons, 25, had already been apprehended.
Both Potter and Simmons are facing charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the shooting.
As reported by the Hilton Head Island Packet, Simmons is also facing several additional charges, including:

Malicious injury to personal property (under $2,000)
He is currently held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center without bond.
Ongoing Investigation and Prior Criminal History
While a motive for the shooting has not yet been disclosed, Columbia Police confirmed that the case remains under investigation. The victim’s current condition has not been released.
Potter, who was arrested on Tuesday, has a lengthy criminal history. At the time of the June 18 shooting, he was already out on bail from a July 2024 arrest. Those previous charges include:

Additionally, Potter pleaded guilty in 2023 to unlawful carrying of a pistol, according to Richland County court records.
