Actress Alix Lapri arrested in Georgia, faces child cruelty and disorderly conduct charges

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Actress Alix Lapri, best known for her role as Effie Morales in Starz’s “Power” and “Power Book II: Ghost,” is reportedly facing criminal charges in Georgia following her arrest earlier this month.

Arrest and Charges

According to DeKalb County jail records, Lapri — identified legally as Alexus Lapri Geier, 28 — was arrested on August 18 and booked into jail just before 5 p.m. She was charged with cruelty to children in the third degree and disorderly conduct.

Authorities said Lapri was released the following day after spending just over 24 hours in custody. The alleged incident is noted as having occurred on August 10, though further details about the case have not yet been disclosed.

Career and Public Reaction

Lapri moved from Topeka, Kansas, to Atlanta at age 13 to pursue acting. In addition to her work on the “Power” franchise, she has appeared in the film Den of Thieves alongside Gerard Butler and 50 Cent, as well as the TV shows Read Between the Lines and Red Band Society.

Despite the arrest, Lapri has remained active on social media, posting on both Instagram and TikTok since August 10. She has not publicly commented on the charges.

Her co-star Michael Rainey Jr. defended her in a social media post after her mug shot began circulating online, according to Vibe.com.

Ongoing Investigation

No court documents have been released explaining the full circumstances behind the charges. FOX 5 Atlanta reported it has reached out to both law enforcement and Lapri for more information.

The case remains under investigation, and it is unclear when Lapri will next appear in court.
