Stabbing on LYNX Train Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured Near Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A stabbing on a Charlotte LYNX light rail train late Friday night left one person dead and two others injured, sparking a homicide investigation near Uptown.

Authorities said the incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. near the station at Camden Road, close to where West Boulevard and East Boulevard intersect.

One Dead, Two Others Injured

Medic confirmed that the victim who died was pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional victims were treated — one with life-threatening injuries and another with minor wounds.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirmed that detectives have taken over the investigation. Officers said the stabbing occurred onboard the train, which remained at the stop as police worked the scene.

Person of Interest in Custody

Police reported that a person of interest was detained shortly after the stabbing. Neither the suspect nor the deceased victim has been publicly identified.

Investigators have not disclosed what sparked the attack, and details about the connection between the individuals involved remain unclear.
