TEXAS — A strong thunderstorm tracked along Highway 82 Tuesday evening, moving from areas near Mankins toward Kadane Corner and continuing northeast toward Iowa Park and Wichita Falls.

The storm produced localized wind gusts between 50 and 60 mph, along with heavy rain and frequent lightning, creating hazardous travel conditions across parts of North Texas.

Storm Tracking Northeast Along Highway 82 Corridor

Radar imagery shows the storm following a clear path along Highway 82, impacting communities including Electra, Burkburnett, and areas just west of Wichita Falls.

As it progressed, the system maintained a strong core, with intense rainfall and embedded lightning continuing as it pushed northeast toward Iowa Park.

Wind and Rain Primary Threats With This System

The main concern with this storm has been strong straight-line winds and heavy rainfall, capable of reducing visibility and causing minor damage such as downed branches or isolated power issues.

Lightning activity has also remained active within the storm, increasing risk for outdoor exposure during its passage. Despite its intensity, forecasters confirmed that this storm does not currently pose a tornado threat, reducing the likelihood of more extreme damage.

Storm Has Weakened Slightly but Still Impactful

While the system was reported to be slightly weaker compared to earlier stages, it continues to deliver impactful weather conditions across the region.

Even in a weakened state, storms of this nature can still produce dangerous conditions, particularly for drivers along affected highways.

Communities in Path Remain Alert

Areas including Wichita Falls, Iowa Park, and surrounding communities remain in the path of the storm as it continues northeast. Residents are advised to remain cautious, especially during heavy rain bursts and strong wind periods that could develop quickly.

Travel Conditions May Be Hazardous Overnight

With storms moving along a major roadway corridor, travel conditions along Highway 82 and nearby routes may be affected by reduced visibility, standing water, and sudden wind gusts.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and remain alert as the storm moves through the area. If you’re experiencing weather conditions in your area, share updates and stay connected with ongoing coverage at SaludaStandard-Sentinel.com.
