7 People Injured in University City Crash That Shut Down North Tryon Street in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Seven people were injured Monday evening after a serious crash in northeast Charlotte’s University City area, according to local officials.

The collision happened around 5 p.m. near the intersection of North Tryon Street and University Pointe Boulevard, an area known for heavy commuter traffic.
Medic reported that one person sustained serious injuries, while six others suffered minor injuries. All victims were treated at the scene and transported to nearby hospitals for additional evaluation.
Traffic Disruptions in the Area
The crash caused major delays, with northbound lanes of North Tryon Street closed for over an hour, according to the Charlotte Transportation Management Center. Traffic gradually resumed after first responders cleared the wreckage.
