Two Riegelwood Residents Arrested for Armed Robbery in Whiteville, North Carolina

WHITEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities in Columbus County have arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last week at a home on Rouse Lane in Whiteville, where a man in his 60s was held at gunpoint and robbed of approximately $1,500.

According to investigators, 37-year-old Cierra Young and 37-year-old Robert Lacewell, both residents of Riegelwood, face multiple charges stemming from the violent incident.

Robbery Occurred on October 29

Deputies say the robbery took place on the night of Wednesday, October 29, when the victim — a man in his 60s — was approached at his home by the suspects. Court documents reveal that the pair allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded money before fleeing the scene with $1,500 in cash.

Young was arrested later that same day, while Lacewell was taken into custody the following morning, according to a statement from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

“The suspects were quickly identified and apprehended thanks to swift investigative work by deputies,” officials said Sunday. “We take violent crimes against our citizens seriously and will continue to work diligently to bring offenders to justice.”

Suspects Held in County Detention Center

Both Young and Lacewell are currently being held at the Columbus County Detention Center. Young’s bond has been set at $75,000, while Lacewell remains in custody without bond.

Authorities have not disclosed whether additional charges may be filed or if the robbery was part of a larger investigation.

The victim was not reported injured, and officials say the incident appears to have been targeted rather than random.
