TikTok Creator Malik Taylor, 28, Dies in North Carolina Car Crash; Family and Fans Pay Tribute
CONCORD, NC – Popular TikTok creator Malik Taylor, who entertained more than 200,000 followers with his comedic and creative videos, died in a car accident in Concord, North Carolina on August 20, police confirmed.
Crash on Lapis Lane
According to Concord Police, officers were called to Lapis Lane NW around 7:45 a.m. after a Nissan Rogue veered off the roadway and down a 20-foot embankment. Taylor, the driver, was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators ruled out foul play but said alcohol may have been a factor. The Medical Examiner determined he died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
Family Statement on His Passing
In a statement shared through his business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, Taylor’s family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support.
“It is with love and gratitude that we, the family of Malik Taylor, acknowledge the incredible support and kindness shown following his untimely passing due to a tragic vehicle accident.”
The family added that Taylor was “so much more than a content creator,” remembering his ability to inspire and uplift.
“His creativity, humor, and spirit touched countless lives, and his legacy of inspiring, entertaining, and uplifting others will continue to live on.”
Social Media Legacy
Just weeks before the crash, Taylor celebrated his 28th birthday with a “Great Gatsby”–inspired photoshoot he shared on Instagram.
He had also recently relocated from Memphis, Tennessee, to Charlotte, North Carolina, and reflected on the move in his final TikTok video with the caption: “The Queen City needed a King.”
Fans have since flooded his social media accounts with tributes, calling him a “bright light” and remembering his “warm smile that brightened every room.”
