Summerville Shooting Leaves Small Child Hospitalized with Serious Injuries
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — Police say a small child was rushed to the hospital Monday afternoon after being shot at an apartment complex in Summerville.
Shooting at Lake Pointe Apartments
Deputy Chief Chris Hirsch confirmed that the shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. at the Lake Pointe Apartments. According to a report by WCSC, officers arrived to find the child suffering from a gunshot wound.
“The shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. at Lake Pointe Apartments in Summerville,” Hirsch said.
Child in Serious Condition
Authorities said the child’s injuries are considered serious. Emergency responders provided immediate care before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
“The child’s injuries are serious,” police confirmed in their statement.
No updates on the child’s current condition were immediately available late Monday.
Investigation Ongoing
Police stressed that no arrests have been made at this time. Detectives are actively interviewing witnesses and residents at the apartment complex to determine what led to the shooting.
“Detectives are interviewing people to find out how this incident happened,” Hirsch added.
