HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — Authorities are searching for a 28-year-old South Carolina man who vanished after flying to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) earlier this month. Tyrek Harrington has not been seen since arriving in California on June 3, and concern is growing among family and law enforcement.

Last seen in downtown Los Angeles

Harrington was believed to be staying near the 800 block of South Francisco Street in downtown LA, according to a missing person’s bulletin released by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit.

He had reportedly flown to California to visit friends and was scheduled to return to South Carolina by June 9, but he never boarded a return flight. His mother reported him missing to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office on June 11, as confirmed by WSAV and KTLA.

No known health issues or behavioral concerns

Harrington’s mother said he had no history of physical or mental health conditions, and there were no signs that he had intended to stay longer in California. She described his disappearance as completely out of character.

Authorities list Harrington as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds.
