Rocky Mount Man with Revoked License Arrested After Deadly Moped Crash
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash earlier this month that killed a moped driver just outside downtown Rocky Mount.
Police say Cody Shane Bundy was taken into custody on August 19, nearly two weeks after the August 8 collision that claimed the life of 54-year-old Jessie Junior Williams.
Crash Details
Court documents state Bundy was driving along South Church Street, about three miles from downtown Rocky Mount, when he attempted to make a left turn. Investigators say he failed to yield the right of way, striking Williams’ moped.
The warrant concluded Bundy’s failure to yield was the “proximate cause of death” in the crash.
Charges Filed
Bundy, who was allegedly operating a vehicle with a revoked license, faces several charges, including:
- Misdemeanor death by vehicle
- Driving with a revoked license
- Failure to yield
- Window tint violation
Police clarified that his license had not been revoked due to impairment but for other reasons.
Bond and Location
Bundy was booked on the charges and issued a $5,000 bond. The crash site, near I-95, lies roughly an hour east of Raleigh.
