Race Car Driver’s $12.2 Million Ranch Sale Sets Real Estate Record in Charlotte Area
CHARLOTTE, NC — A massive 140-acre ranch formerly owned by NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has just sold for $12.2 million, marking the most expensive residential sale in Charlotte-area history.
Ranch With Racing Legacy Changes Hands
Located near Mooresville — a hub for many NASCAR drivers — the estate has been passed between professional racers since the 1990s. Stenhouse, who nicknamed the estate “Slide Job Ranch,” bought the property in 2014 from fellow driver Joe Nemechek, who acquired it from racing legend Ernie Irvan.
The record-breaking deal closed on June 18, with Josh Tucker and Joey Adams of Corcoran HM Properties representing the seller. Tucker called the sale “a testament to the continued strength of the Charlotte luxury market.”
Slide Job Ranch: More Than Just a Home
The sprawling estate includes a 9,100-square-foot main residence, guest house, pool house, and a stable house — all surrounded by custom equestrian facilities. Stenhouse used the land not only as a retreat but also to raise longhorn cattle and donkeys.
The ranch includes:
-
5 bedrooms and 7 full bathrooms
-
A vanishing-edge swimming pool and putting green
-
Outdoor kitchen and bar with a fireplace
-
Game room featuring Stenhouse’s racing memorabilia
-
5,500-square-foot stable and indoor riding arena
The estate’s nickname, “Slide Job Ranch,” is a nod to Stenhouse’s dirt-track racing roots — referring to a high-speed pass maneuver used in competitive racing.
Charlotte’s NASCAR Connection Fuels High-End Market
Charlotte is home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the Charlotte Motor Speedway, a venue that draws over 100,000 fans and contributes an estimated $450 million to the local economy each year. With so many racing teams, including Stenhouse’s Hyak Motorsports, based in the region, luxury homes tied to NASCAR figures are highly sought-after.
Stenhouse, a two-time Xfinity Series champion and 2023 Daytona 500 winner, had long used the ranch as both a private retreat and a representation of his racing lifestyle.
