Police: Georgia Men Accused of Stealing $9K in Circuit Breakers from Franklin Store
FRANKLIN, T.N. — Two Georgia men are facing charges after police say they stole more than $9,200 worth of circuit breakers from a Lowe’s in Williamson County.
100 Circuit Breakers Taken from Mallory Lane Store
According to Franklin Police, the theft happened on August 11 at a Lowe’s location on Mallory Lane. Investigators said the men, ages 26 and 23, took 100 circuit breakers and left the store without paying.
Circuit breaker prices vary widely depending on type and safety features. While the average cost is around $57, some advanced models with protection systems can sell for as much as $689, police noted.
Suspects Linked to Wider Crime Spree
Authorities believe the two men may be connected to similar thefts at home improvement stores in Columbia, Tullahoma, and Shelbyville, Tennessee, as well as in Greenville and Clemson, South Carolina.
Both suspects are now charged with Shoplifting-Theft of Property and Organized Retail Crime. Their bonds were each set at $7,000, and as of press time, they remain in custody at the Williamson County Jail.
Organized Retail Crime on the Rise
Franklin Police said the case highlights the growing challenge of organized retail theft. Stolen construction and electrical supplies like circuit breakers can be resold online or through underground networks for significant profit.
Retail experts warn that such thefts drive up costs for businesses and consumers alike, as stores often raise prices to offset losses.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities in Tennessee and South Carolina working together to determine the full scope of the suspects’ activity.
