Oklahoma City Teen Rescued From Alleged Human Trafficking Ring in Georgia

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA — A 15-year-old Oklahoma City girl missing for weeks has been found alive in Georgia, where investigators say she was being held as part of a suspected human trafficking ring.

Teen Rescued in Savannah Hotel

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the teenager had been in DHS custody before running away on September 10.

She was discovered this week in a Savannah, Georgia hotel room, after authorities received a tip from OHP troopers that led deputies to her location.

Officials said the girl was found alone in the room and in grave danger at the time of her rescue.

Suspect in Custody, Others Wanted

Deputies identified 30-year-old Iven Richardson as a suspect in the case. He was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including human trafficking and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Authorities believe Richardson was not acting alone. Investigators say as many as 20 additional suspects may be involved, and the search to track them down is ongoing.

Human Trafficking Concerns

The case has once again highlighted the dangers posed by human trafficking rings that target vulnerable youth, particularly runaways. Law enforcement officials stress the importance of quick communication across state lines to bring victims home safely.

Community Relief and Ongoing Investigation

The girl’s rescue has brought relief to her family and community in Oklahoma City, though investigators emphasize that the broader trafficking network remains active.

As of Thursday, the teen is safe and under the care of authorities, while Richardson remains in custody awaiting court proceedings.
