North Carolina Driver Reports Possible Sasquatch Sighting Near State Border
HIGHLANDS, N.C. – A North Carolina woman says her drive to the mountains took a strange turn last week when she spotted what she believes may have been a Sasquatch crossing the road in front of her.
According to witness Susan King, the incident happened on Friday, August 1, as she and her fiancé were traveling toward the town of Highlands. While driving behind another car, the vehicle ahead of them “slammed on its brakes” — and for good reason.
A Tall, Dark, Two-Legged Figure
King told the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization that she saw “a large black creature” running across the road on two feet before leaping over a guardrail “with ease.” She described the figure as very tall, with long arms and dark hair.
Although she considered herself a Sasquatch skeptic, King admitted, “I’ve truly never witnessed anything like this before.” She said she was left with no explanation other than the possibility she had just seen the legendary creature.
The couple did not get the chance to speak with the occupants of the car ahead of them, who continued driving after the sighting.
Expert Weighs In
BFRO investigator Matthew Moneymaker, who interviewed both King and her fiancé, called their account “very credible.” Noting that the sighting happened in broad daylight, Moneymaker said, “The creature they saw could only have been a Sasquatch.”
He also pointed out that the sighting took place near the tri-state border where North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia intersect — an area known among enthusiasts as a hotspot for Bigfoot reports.
