NC Man Wins $10K in Lottery — Then Scores $10 Million One Week Later
North Carolina — A North Carolina man who recently won $10,000 from a lottery scratch-off followed it up with an even more unbelievable outcome — a $10 million jackpot just one week later, according to lottery officials.
One lucky instinct leads to a life-changing prize
Christopher Sink, a construction business owner from Winston-Salem, told officials he had a “gut feeling” while at a convenience store and decided to buy another ticket. This time, it was a $50 scratch-off from the $10 Million Spectacular game.
That hunch turned out to be a jackpot — Sink beat 1-in-3.25 million odds and became the winner of one of the game’s five top prizes, as reported by the NC Education Lottery.
From $10,000 to $10 million in 7 days
Sink told lottery officials he had just won $10,000 on a ticket one week earlier. “It’s kind of hard to fathom,” he said. “I’m tickled to death about this.”
He opted to collect his winnings as a lump sum of $6 million, walking away with $4.3 million after taxes, according to the Durham Herald Sun.
Sink said he plans to use the money to buy work equipment, invest, and pay bills.
Game still has one $10M prize remaining
The $10 Million Spectacular game launched in December 2023, and Sink’s win means just one top prize remains. Tickets cost $50 and are available through authorized retailers statewide. More details are available on the NC Lottery scratch-off page.
Winston-Salem is located in Forsyth County, about 80 miles northeast of Charlotte.
