MOREHEAD CITY, NORTH CAROLINA — Eastern North Carolina will enjoy mild and sunny conditions Friday, but forecasters caution that hazardous surf and rip currents could create dangerous situations along the coastline.

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City expects highs in the mid-to-upper 70s across the region on October 3.

Communities at higher risk include North Topsail Beach, Cedar Island, and Rodanthe, where beachgoers are urged to exercise caution.
