Miami Man Arrested After Allegedly Stalking Ex-Girlfriend and Shooting Her Inside Beauty Salon on Northwest Seventh Street
MIAMI, FLORIDA — What began as a routine day inside a neighborhood beauty salon turned violent when a man allegedly entered the business searching for his ex-girlfriend and shot her during a confrontation, according to police.
The incident happened Jan. 16 in the 3700 block of Northwest Seventh Street and was captured on surveillance video, authorities said.
Suspect Accused of Violating Protective Order
Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Job Jocelyn, who they say went to the salon where his former girlfriend worked after their relationship had ended. Investigators allege he had been sending her unwanted messages and had previously been served with a protective order following a prior domestic violence incident.
According to the victim, the violence stemmed from jealousy. She told authorities that he “found out I was talking to someone else.”
Surveillance Video Shows Confrontation Inside Salon
Surveillance footage reportedly shows Jocelyn wearing a face mask as he walks into the salon, a public business with customers coming and going throughout the day. Video then shows him removing a handgun from his pocket.
Police say he initially appeared to aim toward her upper body before lowering the weapon and firing, striking her in the leg. Panic erupted inside the salon as customers reacted to the gunfire.
After the shot was fired, authorities say Jocelyn briefly placed the gun on the floor, picked it back up, and fled the scene.
Arrest Made Minutes After Shooting
Police said Jocelyn was arrested minutes later. He now faces charges including attempted murder and violating a protective order, according to authorities.
The victim survived the shooting and has since returned to work as she continues to recover physically and emotionally.
The case underscores the dangers tied to domestic violence and the importance of protective orders being taken seriously by both courts and law enforcement.
